Autumn/Winter Projects 2020
We switched our food projects from sit-in to delivery projects during the October/November lockdown. We also re-shaped one of our projects to provide free school meals to children during the Autumn half term holiday.
Sean, one of our volunteers talks about his experience with our EATN17 project:

Receiving Our 2020 CAMRA Award
The oldest working pub in N17 won the ‘golden gong’ for cask beer pubs in North London. Also known locally as the ‘Annie’, we scooped the North London Branch of CAMRA’s Pub of the Year 2020. We beat hundreds of pubs to this prestigious award.
The Award is given by the North London Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). We won as a result of a vote open to 1600 local CAMRA members. Thanks to everyone who voted for us.
Colin Coyne, North London Branch Chairman, handing out the award said ‘The Antwerp Arms is the only community owned pub in North London and it’s a really worthy winner’.
The presentation took place at the Antwerp Arms (observing social distancing!) on Weds 5th Aug 2020.
Previously, the Antwerp won a CAMRA pub a of the season award in 2016.
Eat Out to Help Out
The Antwerp Arms has joined the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. This will help us get the Antwerp back on its feet after being closed during the pandemic. It helps you because you can get delicious burgers, ice cream and soft drinks for half price. A fantastic way to try our new menu.
We will operate our scheme on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August. You will get a 50% discount on your food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a maximum of £10.00 per person when you eat in with us. You can come back for the discount as many times as you like during August. This now includes the Bank Holiday Monday, when we will be open for drinks, BBQ and ice cream/lollies. Book your table now using our app
Return of the Sunday Lunch
By popular demand, we are will be serving Sunday roasts again. Our first will be roast beef and all the trimmings. Following weeks will see different meats and a veggie option. We are also bringing back a couple of your favourite puddings – apple pie and sticky toffee pudding. Watch out for new puddings which will be added to our menu in time. Burgers won’t be available on Sundays.
Our Projects in 2020
Covid19 Feeding Project
At the start of lockdown, we launched a project to deliver hot meals to members of our community. The project was supported by our sponsors and partners:
- Haringey Giving
- Fair Share
- The Felix Project
- Haringey Reach and Connect
- Insight Platform
- Homes for Haringey
- North London Community Consortium
- Neighbourhood Watch
Volunteers collected food from a distribution centre near the stadium and cooked delicious meals. Other volunteers delivered over 1000 hot meals during the course of the project.
Another project, sponsored by National Lottery funding will continue preparing and delivering cooked meals in August, alongside the Eat N17 project.
Eat N17
This project has three strands:
- Gardening at the Antwerp. This takes place on Tuesdays at 10.30 am
- Lunch
- Social activities
